Stabbing in Haymarket!

Haymarket Police Department

Approximately 1 hour ago there was a double stabbing in the Town of Haymarket!

This occurred at the Sheetz Gas Station at the intersection of Route 55 and Route 15 within the town limits.

Calls for help went unanswered by Haymarket Police so Prince William County was forced to respond.

Detectives and Officers from Prince William County Police are currently on the scene at this time.

I can't believe that once again, NO HAYMARKET POLICE OFFICERS ARE WORKING!

More details as soon as we get it.

Just remember - Always on Guard

Personal Account of Stabbing

Hi. I just wanted to say that it was my husband and sister who were stabbed. I was there the whole time and as I was screaming and in shock the only relief I had was knowing the police station was right there by the sheetz. I took off running and when I got there it was locked. I pounded on the door and no one was there to help. I was lost and helpless. The Prince William Police arrived after what seemed like forever and it is a night that, unfortunately, is etched in my mind forever. I was very disappointed in the police.

My Condolences

cjseven, I am sorry about what happened to you and your family that evening and I hope that you are capable of letting go of the painful memories one day. I hope you and your family recover physically and emotionally soon. You certainly should write a letter to the Town of Haymarket with your complaint on how the Haymarket Police Department failed to protect you and your family on the night of this incident. I can not imagine going for help to a local police agency and finding that the doors were locked and buildy empty. That has to be every persons nightmare.

First

Let me say for the entire town we are truely sorry for your suffering and pray for the speedy recovery of your family members. Now, let me say this AGAIN I am truely upset that the town has allowed the police department to go down to the level of allowing a stabbing in town to go unanswered.

WHAT IN THE WORLD WILL IT TAKE FOR THIS TOWN TO DO SOMETHING!

This is utterly unbelivable that no one was working. After looking at her post I realized and just drove by the "new" police station. Only to see it has absolutely no sign at all, there is no way anyone who even needed help could ever find it!

The fact that no one was working on a Friday night in the summer time says volumes about the complete failure of the management of this department and the total failure of the Town council, town Managaer and Mayor to oversee the department. The chief must have some very nasty info on them for them to stay silent on this matter.

Oh by the way tonight there is a town council meeteing 15000 Washington ST we should go there and demand answers.

What do they do?

They do nothing respond to nothing and apparently don't work. Why are they here and what do they do? I find it totally unacceptable that on a summer night on July 3rd they can not work. What a complete lack of leadership from the mayor on down.

Nothing!

I couldn't believe it. The Chief actually came in on July 4th and worked. Of course the reason for that is because he can get paid AND get another day off in the future. Such a con! Anyway, all he did was sit in the neighborhood where all the townhouses are and watch people set off ILLEGAL fireworks??

Someone said that now the town has 3 people wasting gas and taking cars home. Is that true? The Chief and Sgt drive cars to Front Royal everyday. That is 70+ miles a day per car. Now I heard that they let an auxillary guy (who isn't even employed by the town) take a car home outside of the town. More of our tax $$'s wasted!!

So Mr Walter Raiegh, to answer your question, the Police do NOTHING!

Unbelievable!

Never Changes

This department will never change. No matter how much the people of Haymarket express their concerns, the mayor and town council will never stand up for what is right and put a stop to an out of control police department.

The Chief and Sergeant have absolutely no reason to take their police cars home since they live so far away. If they lived in the county I could understand. My understanding from other departments is that a supervisor has a take home car because they may need to respond to work for emergencies. Did the chief or sergeant come in when this stabbing took place? We should all know by now to never expect a haymarket cop to help us out when we need them the most. Thank god it wasnt me or my family member that was stabbed and bleeding to death waiting for help. The entire town council needs to be questioned about the continuance unmanned police department.

Also, Why on earth does an auxillary cop need to take a police car home?

Not right

I already wrote a post about this incident on another thread, so I will respond to my opinion on police coverage. Lack of police coverage has been a problem with the town for a very long time. They've never had 24 hr coverage because the chief is too busy trying to be nice to the current officer's by not forcing them to work midnight hours rather than do what is right. With a minimum four man department, 24 hr coverage is possible by having atleast 1 person working a 12 hour shift each. That would mean that the sergeant would need to pull his own weight by working 12 hrs as well. The nice part of that scheduling is that the officers would still rotate and have every other weekend off. It would mean only 1 officer on at a time, but one is better than none! I have no clue why this never happened. I will say that the current people there never seem to be there. My opinion is that the town just needs a whole new police department like it did before I arrived. And though I wouldnt call the Cpl a supervisor, he needs to go as well. Always remember Cpl about what happened when you worked in PWC. It may be between you and them, but what happened is not a huge secret.
