Police Cover-up - K-9 Disappears!

Citizens of Haymarket,

Once again the Chief of Police has opened up our Town to civil liability. Several poeple have recently discovered that the Chief and his K-9 have not been trained and/or certified for over 1 year now. This means the Chief was using his dog when not properly certified.

He has been submitting bills/invoices to the town and WE have been paying them. I suggest that this is the same as embezzlement. The Chief has knowingly been using a dog that he has not been certified to use. He has knowingly been forcing the Town to pay the bills for his pet that he keeps as his home.

To make matters worse, approximately 10 days ago a Freedom of Information Act request was made to the Town to produce these training records for the Dog and the Chief to prove that both are certified to work in the Town.

Guess What Residents? The Dog all of a sudden was transferred to a different agency and we can't seem to find out where! I am not sure if this is true or not though.

TALK ABOUT A COVER-UP!

Timeline:

3 weeks ago - Chief has dog and brings him to work with him the 2-3 days a week that he works.

2 weeks ago - Freedom of Information Act request submitted questioning Chief's and Dog's training.

1 week ago through today - DOG MISSING IN ACTION!

I guess the town is lucky that this K-9 and the Chief have made no arrests in the past 3 + years. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to prosecute the offenders because the K-9 wasn't certified. Also, as citizens of the town, we are LUCKY that the Chief didn't release the K-9 on anyone because he isn't certified to attack anymore and the town could have been forced to pay MILLIONS!

When is this Town Council going to hold the Chief of Police accountable for his actions or inactions?? Quit covering up for the Chief!!

Town Council, this is your way out. He knowingly had a K-9 that was not certified properly.
Need I say more?

Shame

What a shame that the town will never stand up to the standards of a substantial living environment. The town will never be respected by the surrounding jurisdictions as a long as the corruption of politics and law enforcement is never improved. The town council should be ashamed of themselves for not opening their eyes and making changes that should have been dealt with years ago. As for the dog issue, the town wont bother with it because it would show that they have no control over the chief and that would make them look like the idiots that they are. They do not control the renegade cops so how can they control the town?

Why would the town do

Why would the town do anything to bring the moral standards or ethical conduct of anyone who works for it into question?
It disgusts me that we are paying for the standard of service weare (not) reciving. To be honest what would they accomplish if the allegations were true? The town cant fix the crosswalks HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN SINCE VDOT NOTIFIED THEM TO FIX IT?!? The town can't even put up a sign for a police department, but then again other than write a few tickets what do they do?
The burglary down the street was incompetently handled. they never tried to get any prints, never talked to the neighbors and never followed up with any phone calls. It is my understanding the insurance company has not even gotten confirmation that a report was even done since they won't return a phone call to confirm this so the family can't even get any compensation. In the future request a county officer and they will send one.

This issue was never dealt with by the town so I guess corruption of town funds is not a priority.

That was funny! I still can't understand why the chief was never dealt with for having a dog that was not certified. If the town told him to get rid of the dog and he refused and continued to have it then wouldn't that be in violation of a direct order from his superiors? I'm not sure that the town is so willing to butt heads with the chief. Other agencies call him the teflon chief because he always gets into trouble and never has to pay the consequences for his actions. You would think the liability alone would have made this a big issue.

Not good

If this is all true, this is a very very bad thing for the town! I would see the dog let loose all the time behind Pace when I was out walking my dog. Also, I've seen him use his dog on a traffic stop within the past few months. I slowed up when passing because I never got to see his dog do any work and he had him inside a persons car that was pulled over on John Marshall Hwy.

The dog works for

The dog is currently working for the Powhatan Sheriff’s office in Virginia. He was turned in about a month ago by the chief and reassigned! And yes, the dog and the chief were required to be recertified every year with the dog. FYI
