Haymarket Police Victimize Underage Crime Victim

It has been reported that a complaint has been filed against members of the Haymarket Police Department, including it’s Chief, involving inappropriate conduct towards a seventeen year old girl who was attempting to report a crime. Instead of assisting this crime victim, she was apparently questioned without her parent’s consent, subjected to verbal harassment, and even asked “Why can’t you be fat and ugly?” The complaint has been filed with the Prince William Commonwealth Attorney’s office, and I would expect that the case is now under investigation.

The complaint also states, “I was extremely afraid of Corporal Kenworthy’s behavior that he was displaying towards me and his inappropriate sexual questions that he was asking me as a minor without my parents present. I was being accused of being the victim of a sexual misconduct investigation and was being treated like a suspect by his questioning without my parents present.”

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard stories involving questionable behavior by the Haymarket Police, but this does seem to be the first instance where a thorough investigation might be undertaken. I don’t think even Paul Ebert can ignore this one.

There’s more on this here, on the bomb-throwing website for criticizing the leadership of the Town of Haymarket.

BTW

It was confirmed that paperwork was turned into the commonwealth attorny's office and that paperwork is on it's way to the town of haymarket in regards to the juvenile complaint. Will it be dealt with by them the same way the chief dealt with it or will they actually look into it and investigate the chief for whatever the accusations are about?!

I would love to read the complaint if anyone can get a copy of it once it gets discovered. Just make sure that you dont post the victims name!

I see that this stuff has made its way to other internet sites. Great! Wonder how many other people will be reading all about the wonderful world of Haymarket. It will be only time when the news reporters will be seen in town taking pictures and trying to get their articles written about what is going on. I would assume that most have already seen this site and seen the articles. Anyone know if any of them are preparing any statements about this? What a thing to see on the front page of the Washington Post. I'm sure the town council would love defending the chief and sergeant again with these allegations. Good luck with that. Maybe the council and mayor should be the ones fired this time and not the chief and sergeant. As for the corporal, who is he in charge of? Why did the town need a corporal? Not enough supervisors on duty? I read that they have a Captain that is a volunteer. Who is he in charge of? This place is getting way out of hand.
