Haymarket Police Department

Ok, so our Town PD has 5 full time officers and a full compliment of certified and sworn reserve officers. Put to rest has been all of the problems with former officers, former Town officials and the Department leadership.

So, can anyone explain to me how during the late evening hours on Monday, about half of the Town was spray painted by graffiti artists. The Town Hall building, Joe's new restaurant, the Museum, PWs - I'm afraid the list is long.

Where were our cops? Don't we have a night shift? Since most crimes occur after dark and a lot of crimes occur past midnight, once would think we'd have cops on patrol. But somehow the vandals made their way clear through the CENTER of Town to spray paint their crap all over the place.

Come on guys. Let's do something about this. Otherwise, who knows what will be next in our Town to be vandalized? Will the Town's multi-million dollar property holdings on the Harrover property be burned to the ground by vandals - before the Town can even figure out what to do with the real estate?

To our Police Leadership - PLEASE HELP US!

yep

there was police coverage that night. I found out that the officer on duty was the new officer named Ishmael and that he had just arrested a drunk driver sometime after midnight. Then he ended up getting a drug arrest after that and he was working till when I left for work around 6am. Shame that the officer didnt have anyone helping him out, but what do we expect from the town police.

True

I was working this night. I was actually patrolling the main street of Washington between 10pm and midnight until I took up a stationary location at Washington and Madison doing radar and looking for DUI's. I did find a DUI around 1:30am and took that guy to jail. The normal time frame to complete a DUI arrest is roughly 2 hours. Once I was finished I had found narcotics ans had to complete an arrest procedure for that. Then I had to complete my police reports for the night which I did once I got back to town around 5:30am. I didn't leave the station until about 7am. I heard the Sgt. mark on duty around 6:30 and didnt see him until I was about to leave near 7. It was a long night and certainly not typical. I didn't see anything unusual before my arrests so I believe it happened after I was gone at 1:30. I do agree that it would have been nice to have another officer around.

its not like all of the cops

3 Days to get Police to take Report

Funny thing is that one of the business owners told me that the Police didn't come take a report until 3 days after it happened. He said he called the station a couple of times but no one would come out.

I guess the Sgt was too busy riding around in his new car!

Unbelievable! Some things never change.

POTHOLES & CROSSWALKS

Not sure where to post this.
But when will they fix the roads in Town?
The 2006-2007 budget had money set aside to fixe the crosswalks...and they have gotten worse.
