4. More charges against Dennis Fusaro? Haymarket police department
preparing to sink even lower
****************************************************
Dennis Fusaro, the VCDL EM whose gun the Haymarket police tried to
keep to run a 'stolen check', has learned that the police department
is working on MORE charges against him!
This whole thing continues to stink badly. The police appear to be
punishing Dennis for standing up for his rights and not caving in to
the unreasonable demands of the police.
I will bet that the Haymarket police are also probably not happy
about the article that the Washington Post wrote on Haymarket after
interviewing Dennis.
Why, how DARE a citizen speak out against the Haymarket PD! Just who does this Fusaro guy think he is?

5. Haymarket town council meeting summary
****************************************************
Seven VCDL members attended the Haymarket Town Council meeting last week. EM Dennis Fusaro, EM Mike Stollenwerk, and I addressed the Council. Mike addressed the entire issue of 'road blocks' (check points) with the Council and I talked about the attempted confiscation of Dennis's gun.
The Council did not make any statements themselves.

More thoughts on the legality of Haymarket's gun confiscation
****************************************************
In last week's alert I mentioned that the police do NOT need to keep
a gun overnight to run a stolen. They can do it in a few minutes
from their patrol car.
Several of you have taken me to task for not pointing out that the
police don't have a reason (probable cause) to check a permit
holder's gun against the stolen list, especially during a stop at a
checkpoint.
The members are correct - I was simply addressing the mechanical part of running that stolen check and not the issue of the police doing
the check in the first place.
Again, Haymarket PD was clearly trying to punish Dennis by even
running that stolen check.

7. Haymarket concealing information about their roadblocks/check points
****************************************************
VCDL's Freedom of Information Act request has been answered by
Haymarket. But Maymarket didn't release any of the information we
requested. They claim a five page document describing the procedures at their checkpoints are tactical in nature and they don't have to share it with us.
A checkpoint tactical document? Spare me.
There are certain documents describing checkpoint policies and
procedures that a locality must have before running checkpoints.
Interesting that Haymarket doesn't want to share them.
Haymarket claimed not to have any of the other documents that VCDL
requested either.
Interesting little town, Haymarket.
