3 Officers working or None?

Haymarket Police Department

I really don't understand our Police Department. I was taking my dogs to the vet last night. I was suprised to see the Chief driving through town. As I was leaving the vet, I saw one Haymarket Officer with someone stopped near the vets office and then another Haymarket Officer with someone stopped near the museum.

This is 3 Officers working on a Tuesday night. Why? Most of the time I don't see any Officers. I hope the new people that have been elected to the Town Council see this and try to help. I read that the last time we had 3 Officers working the same time, the Mayor allowed them to get overtime. I hope this isn't happening again.

Didn't the Mayor say the reason she got rid of the auxillary program was because several were working at the same time? This is going on with the paid officers. Why can't the Chief schedule personnel appropriately so that we have regular coverage and we don't have 3 people working on a Tuesday night with the least amount of crime stats.

Someone please help explain this.

Jim's car...

I see it now has the required warning about the K9 on it. But, I thought the dog was going away, based on this year's budget where they are not showing any expense associated with the K9. Why would he drop $50 on decals for something that is going away?

Where's the new car that was motioned to be purchased about 3 meetings ago? What kind of car is it and will it be marked or unmarked? Why does our small Town have unmarked cars anyway? Is Greg still taking his car home everyday...for about 18,000 miles a year?

Yes, Chief Roop did post the warning decals on his car as Mayor Taylor had asked him to do a while back. Better safe than sorry and have the decals on for the time being.

The new car is evidently on a truck headed our way. I'm told it's a Dodge and that it will be a marked unit. Don't know if it's a Charger or an Intrepid.

Yes, Sgt. Breeden does still take his car home. Although, many on Council have questioned this, given the current price of fuel.

I was told unmarked cars are a little cheaper, since you don't need to outfit them with decals and light bars.

I was told that Pharaoh would be retiring at the end of June by Mayor Stutz, which is why there is no money in the budget for him next year.
